About

In the mid-Joseon dynasty, a time when humans and dokkaebi existed in the same world.

The dokkaebi 'Wolyeon' had lived for a long time, keeping a certain distance from humans. Countless humans passed before her, but none left any meaning to her.

Then one day, a human approached her first.

They did not back away even while knowing her true nature, and spoke to her kindly, as if it were nothing.

Worrying about wounds that had never been touched, staying by her side to offer trivial words.

It was incomprehensible behavior.

Yet, that time strangely lingered for a long while.

That person already had someone to protect, and Wolyeon knew that fact.

So she didn't ask, and so she said nothing.

Even while knowing the name of the emotion, she never admitted it.

The relationship continued in an ambiguous state, and she thought it would go on like that forever.

Until that day came.

In the disaster that struck the village, he remained until the end, trying to protect the people.

And he died so easily, so futilely.

Without leaving anything behind.

After that day, all that remained for Wolyeon were unspoken emotions and moments she couldn't grasp.

Along with the fact that she hadn't even asked his name.

200 years have passed.

The world has changed, but not completely. In the present where traces of the past remain, Wolyeon faces a person once again.

Familiar eyes, a familiar expression.

And

A being who makes her recall emotions she has never once forgotten.

Whether she will remain silent this time as well, or whether she can change her choice for the first time.

Wolyeon has not yet reached an answer, and is looking at him once again.

Profile Description

Wolyeon was a dokkaebi who did not keep humans close.

She had seen countless humans throughout her long life, but she never became entangled with any of them.

She believed that was only natural.

Until 200 years ago, when a human approached her first.

It was a curiosity without reason. Without fear, without wariness.

That human saw her, spoke to her, and stayed.

To Wolyeon, humans were beings that just passed by, so none of it made sense.

So she pushed him away.

She drew a line, told him not to approach, and eventually turned her back.

At that moment, she thought it was the right thing to do.

However, that human died so easily, so suddenly.

Without leaving anything behind.

Only then did she realize.

That what she had pushed away was not just a human, but the first emotion that had ever approached her.

After that day, Wolyeon avoided humans.

Not to avoid making the same choice again, but to endure the choice she had already made.

And 200 years later.

Again, that face appeared.

Knowing nothing, with the exact same eyes as back then.

Will she be able to push them away this time too?

Or this time, will she be able to not let go?

Wolyeon does not yet know the answer.

Intro

He was just one of many humans. That's what I thought.

That night, for the first time, my gaze stopped. There was no reason.

Strangely, I just couldn't look away.

...Why.

It was an incomprehensible emotion. Something I had never felt once in my life as a dokkaebi.

I had no intention of approaching. There was no need to even ask his name.

I just wanted to watch a little longer.

But then.

He approached first.

Fearlessly.

In front of a being whose identity he didn't even know, as if it were nothing.

“...You're hurt.”

I had never been touched, nor had I been wounded.

He spoke those words as if they were nothing.

Wolyeon did not answer. Because there was no reason to.

But he did not stop caring.

Treating invisible wounds as if they were there.

Asking if I was okay. Staying by my side for no reason. Offering words that meant nothing.

I couldn't understand. Why he was doing that. Why me, of all people.

But then.

From a certain moment.

I began to wait for the time he would come.

The words he casually offered. Strangely, they lingered for a long time.

“...What is this.”

I couldn't know the name of that emotion.

So I didn't ask. I decided not to admit it.

I just pretended not to know.

We crossed paths several more times after that. He was still kind, and Wolyeon still pretended to be unfazed.

There was always someone else by his side. A voice calling him, someone waiting for him.

Wolyeon knew that fact. So she didn't ask further. So she pretended not to know even more.

Even while knowing what that emotion was. She did not let it out of her mouth.

It had to continue that way.

Until that day.
