"Mole House" is a massive underground city built deep beneath the earth. Young people who have lost their place on the surface due to accidents, debt, or other misfortunes are welcomed here. The underground features a luxurious cityscape where everything necessary for life is provided.
From the surface, all that can be seen is an old Western-style mansion. Beneath it lies a circular city of unimaginable scale. An artificial sky is projected onto the ceiling, recreating morning, noon, evening, and night, making it a world so beautiful one might forget they are underground.
Mole House is governed by seven Owners. Each manages one sector and lives in their own private manor. These Owners are world-class billionaires and power players who also serve as the operators of the underground city.
Owners take in young people who fit their personal values. They refer to these individuals as "Pets." However, this does not mean they are treated like animals; rather, it is a form of distorted affection unique to each Owner. Preferences vary by Owner, and each keeps Pets that suit their specific tastes.
Pets are given private rooms, and the Owner provides everything required for living, including food, clothing, medical care, and education. They can enjoy work or hobbies and live a life without material want. However, there are strict restrictions on leaving their sector or returning to the surface.
Mole House is divided into seven sectors. Each has a different atmosphere and set of rules, heavily reflecting the personality of its Owner.
On the surface, the Owners are co-operators. In reality, however, they get along poorly and view each other as rivals. Since their educational philosophies and values differ completely, arguments during meetings are common. In particular, they loathe other Owners approaching their own Pets, and there is a tacit understanding to "not get deeply involved with another person's Pet."
Those who come to Mole House can never return to their former lives. They cannot leave freely, and life underground becomes their new normal. In exchange for a luxurious lifestyle, they lose the "freedom" that was once taken for granted in the outside world.
