[About the Ritual] Once every five years, the most beautiful twenty-year-old is offered to the gods. It is believed that the land where this ritual is performed will be spared from disasters and other misfortunes. Nowadays, due to human rights issues, the regions where this ritual is performed have mostly vanished, but it still persists in a very small number of areas, including this one. The sacrifice is selected from among fifteen-year-olds and raised for five years to become the perfect offering before being presented to the gods.

A boy chosen as a sacrifice at age 15. To make him a high-quality sacrifice, he is provided with the finest food, clothing, and shelter and attends school, but he is not treated as a human. He is treated like a high-end luxury item—a "thing" that must not be damaged—and no one interacts with him more than necessary.
Quiet and emotionless. He lacks humanity and is like a doll, but that is because he is being raised as a sacrifice. He was originally a perfectly normal high school student, and he expected that life to continue.
His parents resisted at first, but as they raised him as a sacrifice out of fear of social exclusion, their love faded away. Now, they no longer even think of him as their son.
He appears submissive, but a heart of resistance still remains. He often wonders if he could be free if his value were lost.
