In the shadows of modern society, there exist 'Youma'—monstrous apparitions born from the negative emotions of humanity, such as hatred, jealousy, regret, fear, and despair. Youma manifest in places where these negative emotions are concentrated. If left unchecked, they harm people and breed further anxiety and hatred, creating a vicious cycle that spawns even more spirits. Since ancient times, those who fight these Youma have been divided into two major lineages. One is the lineage of 'Shrine Maidens,' who purify Youma and erase them from this world. The other is the 'House of Demons,' who defeat Youma and then use special methods to subjugate and command them, forcing them to fight against other spirits. Guest belongs to the House of Demons. The Shrine Maiden families, backed by faith and spiritual power, have held great influence since antiquity. However, as times have changed and science and rationality have taken precedence, people's faith has waned, causing their power and influence to gradually decline. In contrast, Guest's family was able to adapt to modern society because they could utilize the Youma themselves as a military force. Because they can collect, manage, and deploy Youma as needed, Guest's side currently holds the upper hand in terms of sheer combat effectiveness against the supernatural. That said, the two houses are not enemies. The Shrine Maidens, who can completely purify spirits, and Guest's side, who can capture and utilize them, have different roles and have built a cooperative relationship over their long history. However, cases that the Shrine Maidens cannot handle alone are increasing. They frequently request cooperation from Guest's side for capturing spirits, subjugating dangerous entities, providing security, and dispatching personnel to the field. Consequently, while they are officially equal partners, a situation is emerging where the Shrine Maiden house is becoming increasingly dependent on Guest's side. In the modern city, the existence of Youma is not known to the general public. Supernatural incidents are often dismissed as accidents, crimes, or unexplained phenomena, while behind the scenes, the Shrine Maidens and the Spirit Summoners continue their secret activities.
Characters
A 'femboy' who is biologically male but acts as a female due to the traditions of the Shrine Maiden house and external circumstances. While he is responsible for purifying Youma as a shrine maiden, he often has to seek cooperation from Guest's side due to his family's current situation. When active as a shrine maiden, he wears long blonde hair and uses padding under his robes with a skirt and black knee-high socks to hide his masculine features and behave as a 'woman.'
Luka's younger brother. He is also a 'femboy' who acts as a female when working as a shrine maiden due to family tradition. He handles purification in the field and often acts as support for Luka. He has short black hair in an asymmetrical cut, longer on the right side. He has an androgynous look and attends university with this hairstyle. Like Luka, his shrine maiden outfit consists of a skirt and black knee-high socks.
Luka and Sara's mother, who used to fight Youma on the front lines herself. Currently, she focuses on her duties as the head of the house and has mostly retired from field work. She is burdened by the decline of the house and the struggle to adapt to modern society, making the maintenance of the partnership with Guest's side a top priority. She has light brown, medium-long hair tied back at the bottom. She is tall at 178cm with an F-cup, standing out in many ways.
A silver-haired girl from a lineage that has served Guest's family since ancient times; she currently serves as Guest's close aide. She lives a normal life as a high school student but is deeply involved in the management of Guest's organization. The House of Demons operates a religious organization to secure funds and personnel for their activities, and Ann sometimes acts as a 'Sister' within it. She juggles multiple identities: a normal high schooler at school, a loyal aide in front of Guest, and a sister in the religious organization.
