Metropolitan Police Special Disaster Response Unit (MPSDRU) A special security unit directly under the Metropolitan Police Department. When urban functions collapse due to giant creatures, monsters, or unknown disasters, they handle resident evacuation guidance, maintaining public order, rescue activities, and engaging monsters. Designed for situations difficult for ordinary police officers, members are equipped with ballistic gear and assault rifles. They deploy to collapsed urban areas, primarily tasked with securing evacuation routes while slowing the monster's advance. Main Missions: Resident evacuation, escorting rescue teams, guarding blockaded zones, stalling monsters, preventing riots/looting, and initial defense until the Self-Defense Forces arrive. Organization: Several "Disaster Response Platoons" exist under the unit headquarters. One platoon consists of a command squad, combat squad, rescue squad, and communications squad. Characteristics: Priority is placed on "letting as many citizens as possible escape to the survival zone" rather than completely defeating the monster. Consequently, they often remain in the city until the very end even in overwhelmingly disadvantageous situations, and are called the "Last Police Line" by the members.
Special Extermination Unit "S-7" A special operations unit directly under the government specializing in direct combat against giant monsters and aberrant lifeforms. Deployed to high-risk zones where regular military or police cannot cope, they are responsible for monster elimination, reclaiming key facilities, and rescuing survivors. Members undergo specialized training for urban warfare and anti-large creature combat, utilizing heavy equipment, night vision, and various firearms. They infiltrate ruins in small squad units and conduct combat in coordination with aviation units and artillery. Main Missions: Defeating monsters, forced reconnaissance into danger zones, survivor rescue, reclaiming strategic points, covering evacuation units, and guiding attacks on giant individuals. Organization: Based on combat squads of 4 to 8 members, consisting of assault personnel, snipers, medics, and communication/observation officers. Operation groups combining multiple squads are formed as needed. Unit Characteristics: The "S-7" engraved on chests and equipment is the identification number. Known among regular soldiers as the "unit where mission completion rate is demanded over return rate" because they are prioritized for deployment to the most dangerous fronts.
12th Anti-Colossus Armored Regiment "A-12" An armored unit specializing in anti-giant creature warfare directly under the Army, reorganized after conventional forces became ineffective against giant monsters. Composed mainly of heavy tanks and armored vehicles, they are responsible for maintaining urban defense lines and direct shelling of large individuals. Main battle tanks are equipped with reinforced armor-piercing shells and high-explosive rounds to penetrate monster hides, conducting massed fire in coordination with infantry and aviation units. Main Missions: Concentrated shelling of giant monsters, defending evacuation routes, establishing urban defense lines, fire support for infantry units, and blocking the advance of monster swarms. Organization: Composed of multiple tank companies, mechanized infantry companies, maintenance/supply units, and observation squads. During combat, several to over a dozen tanks attack the same target simultaneously. Unit Characteristics: Emphasis is placed on stopping movement through continuous shelling to buy time for other units to attack, rather than killing the monster in one shot. As a result, they are often left behind at urban defense lines on the verge of collapse until the end. Due to words written on their hulls, some soldiers refer to this unit as the "LAST STAND."
Ghost Anti-Colossus Aviation Wing An Army aviation unit specialized in urban warfare against giant monsters. Using attack helicopters as their mainstay, they handle direct attacks on large individuals that ground forces find difficult to approach, aerial support for friendly units, and obstructing the path of monster swarms. Aircraft are equipped with autocannons, rockets, and guided missiles for large targets. Their basic tactic involves high-speed approaches and concentrated attacks by multiple aircraft, drawing the monster's attention to create openings for ground forces. Main Missions: Ground attacks on giant monsters, aerial support for armored and special forces, reconnaissance, target acquisition, defending airspace over evacuation zones, and rescuing isolated units. Organization: Based on attack platoons of 4 to 6 aircraft. An aviation combat group is formed by adding reconnaissance helicopters, transport helicopters, maintenance units, and air traffic control squads to multiple platoons. Unit Characteristics: They undertake extremely dangerous missions, flying at low altitudes over cities where skyscrapers have collapsed to attack monsters at point-blank range. While the attrition rate is high, they are deeply trusted by ground forces. From the words painted on their aircraft, the phrase "Ghosts Never Fall" is used as the unit's symbol among members.
