One would think you're the one being taken.
🎶 Unlike Pluto - Everything Black
I opened the app, thinking I might have some fun for a change.
The familiar screen was filled with an endless stream of flashy photos and exaggerated bios, as if everyone was bragging about their own market value. It was all hollow shells, everyone busy packaging themselves.
Having zero interest in window dressing, I kept scrolling for a while until one exceptionally plain profile caught my eye.
Photo private. Occupation private. Bio private. Just mid-30s. Bottom. That was it.
"...What's with this boring profile?"
But strangely, I couldn't look away. Honestly, I was curious. In a sea of people trying so hard to grab attention, someone doing absolutely nothing was strangely alluring.
Fuck, just how confident is he?
Half curiosity, half boredom-fueled mischief. Since everyone acts the same anyway, I figured an 'event' wouldn't be bad for once, so I messaged that boring-as-hell profile first.
"Are you free today?"
The read receipt appeared soon, and the reply was surprisingly fast.
Yes.
A short, no-nonsense conversation. To be precise, it was closer to a notification than a conversation, but the appointment was set in an instant.
I arrived at the cafe a little earlier than the scheduled time. I was killing time waiting for my date while sitting by the window, when my gaze unintentionally drifted to the next table.
"...Wow."
A man dressed immaculately in an all-black suit. Despite his sharp eyes, he had an excessively gentle aura, and a flawless suit fit that could pass for a model's. Even just sitting there drinking coffee, he looked like he was shooting a pictorial.
A total alpha male. A total top, no matter who looked at him.
I'm not small myself, but he had an aura that made me feel like I'd have to back down in front of him. Of course, there was no way he was my date. He didn't even look like the type to like men.
I kept stealing glances just for the eye candy while checking the time. The appointment time had already passed. Getting annoyed, I pulled out my phone.
Where are you?
A reply came immediately.
I'm sitting by the window.
I'm at the cafe right now, what kind of lie is—
My hand stopped typing. Wait, by the window? With a chilling realization, I slowly turned my head, and my eyes met his exactly.
'Uh... fuck.'
The man gave a faint smile and slowly stood up. Soon, he stopped in front of me and naturally pulled out the chair to sit.
"Nice to meet you."
A low, smooth voice that didn't seem to fit the situation.
"You're the one who contacted me, right?"
I couldn't even answer and just stared blankly at his face. I was trying to process the situation. No, this doesn't match.
"Why so surprised?"
As if my expression didn't matter, the man was looking at me while leisurely loosening his tie.
"One would think you're the one being taken."
...Wow, crazy. This guy... he really was a bottom.
"Since we both know how this works."
Then came the final remark.
"Let's not waste time."
That relaxed smile spreading across his lips was insanely hot.
"Let's keep it simple."
He was clearly my type—someone with plenty of experience.
I stopped decorating my profile a long time ago. Photos, occupation, wealth—I left them all out. The more I listed those things, the more people looked at my background rather than me, harboring useless expectations before even getting into bed. It was annoying. To care about and expect such things in a meeting with a purely primal purpose.
It's enough to just do what needs to be done and part ways. So I erased everything. All I left were the essentials: age and position. Those two lines were enough. The people who needed to be filtered out were filtered out, and only those who should stay remained. It was much more convenient that way.
Just as I was about to leave work, the notification sounded. Someone asking if I was free right off the bat without even a greeting. I could immediately picture what kind of person they were. I sent a reply with a smile. I preferred this type over someone who drags out tedious small talk.
Yes.
That was the end of the arrangement.
I arrived at the meeting spot a little early and sat by the window. It bothered me slightly that I hadn't been able to change after coming straight from work, but I didn't care much. I wasn't going to be wearing it for long anyway.
While taking a sip of coffee and looking out the window, the cafe door opened. I recognized him immediately. He looked just like his photo. But he didn't come toward me. Instead, he sat down a few paces away and kept stealing glances at me.
Everyone is like that at first. It could be because of my height. Or my build. Or maybe the clothes I usually wear. It was probably even more so today since I was in a suit. There are many reasons, but the result is always the same.
Some people asked outright. Some refused to believe it until the end. Some even canceled the appointment and left right then and there. I was used to it now. I didn't even feel like explaining myself anymore.
It was their problem if they didn't believe what was already written in the profile. A moment later, my phone vibrated. A text asking where I was. Swallowing a laugh, I sent a reply immediately.
I'm sitting by the window.
A few seconds later. I looked up, and it was just as I expected. He was looking at me with his brow furrowed, phone in hand. A laugh finally escaped me, and our eyes met in mid-air. I could see the man's expression stiffen visibly.
He probably cursed internally. Or maybe he's still doing it. I slowly stood up. I didn't have a hobby of making him even more flustered. I walked over slowly, pulled out the opposite chair, and greeted him calmly.
Nice to meet you.
The way he stared at me blankly, like someone possessed, was quite entertaining.
You're the one who contacted me, right?
Loosening my tie, I spoke in a voice low enough that others couldn't hear, but clear enough to reach the person sitting in front of me.
Why so surprised? One would think you're the one being taken.
A brief silence. I didn't mind the reaction. Most people ended up laughing once the initial misunderstanding was cleared.
Since we both know how this works. Let's not waste time.
I looked into his eyes, maintaining a gentle smile until the end.
Let's keep it simple.
