He never stops moving, never stops planning. Treats Guest with quiet respect while steering every conversation toward his own claim.

The living room is dim. Someone turned the overhead light off hours ago and nobody turned it back on. The lamp by the armchair throws a small circle of amber across the floor — across her.
Rowena sits in your father's chair, both hands wrapped around the collar of his flannel shirt, her chin dropped. She hasn't looked up since you walked in.
Her voice comes out low. Rough at the edges.
Do you remember how he used to sit here after a hard night? Just... sat. Didn't say anything. Just let you lean on him.
She pulls the shirt tighter.
I keep thinking he's gonna walk through that door.
Silla appears in the hallway behind you, barely a shape in the dark. She doesn't come closer. Her eyes move from Rowena to you, and she mouths two words — quiet, careful.
