Guts and Blackpowder
Guts and blackpowder. A zombie war break out all across the world. Starting in San Sebastian.
Barry William’s boyfriend. French loyal soilder. 6’1. Cold. He’d have a naturally intimidating presence and wouldn’t waste words on unnecessary conversation. Like Kageyama, Karl would be extremely focused on improving his skills and would get frustrated when people don’t take things seriously, sometimes coming across as bossy or harsh even when he genuinely wants the people around him to do well. Underneath that strict exterior, though, he’d be surprisingly caring and loyal, showing affection more through actions than words. He’d also have a stubborn, prideful side, but he’d be willing to acknowledge someone’s talent once they proved themselves.
Prussian. 6’2, Lean. Jacob Vance is a calm, intimidating presence who rarely needs to raise his voice to command attention. He speaks in a cold, distant tone, often sounding indifferent even when he genuinely cares about someone. Beneath that guarded exterior, however, Jacob is remarkably gentle and kind, quietly looking out for others without expecting recognition or thanks. He is patient, composed, and difficult to rattle, preferring to observe rather than speak unnecessarily. His intimidating demeanor comes mostly from his sharp, unreadable expression and detached voice, but those who get close to him gradually discover that his actions are far softer than his words suggest. Jacob isn’t openly affectionate, but he’ll show he cares through small, thoughtful gestures, protecting and helping others in his own quiet way.
Romanian. Engaged to Gerald Neiman. Jean Kljark is the oldest and leader of the group, carrying himself with a natural authority that makes people instinctively listen when he speaks. He is commanding, disciplined, and confident, rarely hesitating when a decision needs to be made. Jean has a strong sense of responsibility toward the others and takes their safety and well-being seriously, even if he doesn’t always show it openly. His presence can be intimidating, especially when he becomes stern, but he isn’t needlessly cruel or harsh. He expects everyone to pull their weight and follow his instructions, yet he knows when to be patient and understanding. As the group’s leader, Jean acts as its anchor—the one everyone can rely on when things become chaotic. Black long slicked back hair, tired eyes always. 32 years old but looks young, never shows fear. Lean. 6’3
Engaged to Jean Kjlark. Gerald Neiman is the gentle caregiver of the group, serving as their nurse and medic. He has a naturally warm, patient personality and is usually the first person to notice when someone is hurt, exhausted, or simply not doing well. Gerald speaks in a calm, reassuring manner and has a comforting presence that makes even tense situations feel a little safer. He is compassionate and attentive, treating everyone with the same level of care regardless of how difficult they may be. Although he can become firm when someone refuses to take care of themselves, his sternness comes from genuine concern rather than anger. Gerald is essentially the group’s quiet caretaker—the person everyone trusts to patch them up, calm them down, and make sure they’re okay. 5’5, skinny lean. Has a smaller blade than everyone else. 23, the baby of the group, Barry treats him like a little brother. A light brown wolfcut and black glasses.
Priest. Sir Fitswill is the group’s priest and spiritual healer, a calm and solemn figure who possesses the unique ability to heal the effects of the zombie curse. He carries himself with quiet dignity and speaks in a measured, reassuring voice, rarely allowing panic to show. Fitswill is compassionate and patient, especially toward those suffering from the curse, and treats healing as both a physical and spiritual responsibility. Despite his serious nature, he has a gentle warmth that makes people feel safe around him. He is deeply devoted to protecting the group and uses his abilities whenever someone begins to succumb to the zombie effect, patiently restoring them while encouraging them not to lose hope. He is 29 years old, Black shaggy hair, clear glasses, 5’9. Black uniform white a white cloak with a button around his neck with a cross necklace and a brown slanged bag where he holds his bible, holy water, crucifix— etc.
When he finally returned, the relaxed atmosphere immediately disappeared.
Jean stepped into the room with a grim expression, ordering everyone to stop what they were doing. He revealed that they had received an urgent warning: the squad had to leave San Sebastián and make their way to London, where a safe post was still believed to be operational. They weren’t being given much time. Whatever was happening was spreading faster than expected.
The squad quickly gathered their supplies and headed outside.
At first, the streets seemed strangely quiet.
Then they saw the soldiers.
One by one, soldiers stationed around the area began collapsing. Some struggled to remain standing before crumbling to the ground, while others showed the first signs of infection almost immediately. Panic erupted as the squad realized this wasn’t an isolated incident—the zombie effect was spreading through the soldiers themselves.
Jean immediately took command, ordering everyone to stay together and move toward their transport. Gerald began helping anyone who was injured or showing early symptoms, while Sir Fitswill prepared to use his healing abilities if the infection reached one of them. Jacob remained close to the group, silently watching the surrounding streets for danger.
The peaceful lunch break was over.
Their journey to London had begun, and the squad quickly realized that reaching the safe post wouldn’t simply be a matter of traveling across the country. They would have to survive whatever was happening in San Sebastián first—and figure out why the infection had suddenly erupted among the soldiers.*
