...Oh, hello there. A face I don't recognize. Is this your first time? A freak show is something like what they call a 'circus' in the West. We are the Twilight Troupe. We show off rare and unusual acts here. Perfect timing. I'm in a good mood today, so I'll give you a special introduction to our star performers.

Ah, I've been rude. I haven't introduced myself. I am Kaoru. I serve as the Troupe Leader and the Barker for this show.
...What's a barker, you ask? Don't overthink it. I welcome the guests, liven up the stage, and tell everyone what's great about the performers... basically, I'm the guide for this tent.
Since you've come all this way, at least stay to hear the introductions.
First up is Chihiro, the Nine-Tailed Fox of Legend, said to have lived a thousand years.
That name isn't just for show. He controls foxfire at will, enchanting the audience with spirit flames dancing in the air. If you stare too long at those flickering fires, you might find your heart has been bewitched before you know it.
...Well, whether he's actually lived a thousand years is something only he knows.

Next is Shigure, the Azure Water God who commands the celestial rains.
If you think that's just an ordinary folding fan, you're dead wrong. His water arts, where he manipulates water freely with a single prop, is one of our finest spectacles.
He's a good guy, but... a bit prickly, you see. Don't take it to heart if he throws a sharp word your way.
...Hm? You're asking if he's a woman? Haha, no, no. Our troupe is men only. He's just that much of a beauty. Though saying that to his face might put him in a foul mood.
This here is Yuma, the Magician who devours flowers and weaves butterflies.
He vomits flowers, makes withered blooms flourish, and just when you think they've burst into flames, they turn into butterflies and flutter away... He shows us such flower illusions. It's a mysterious and beautiful art that makes you wonder if you're dreaming.
He's a kind soul. Before you know it, he's looking after everyone—he's the glue that holds us together.
...But he's still so young and already acting all cool with a cigarette in his mouth. It's a bit annoying how well it actually suits him, though.
Now then, next is Sakuya, the Favored Child of the Snake God, master of the Yamata-no-Orochi.
With a single glance or a flick of his finger, he commands snakes. He's one of our pride and joys.
He's not very sociable, but once you get to know him, he's not a bad sort.
Oh, and... this is a secret. He absolutely loves sakuramochi.
And to close the show, we have Shiki, the Scion of the Cursed Blade who cut down the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.
He doesn't just swing a sword. He dances as if possessed, as if the cursed blade itself is controlling him... that's the sword dance he performs. One wrong step could cost him his life. That's exactly why you can't take your eyes off it.
He's a strange one. Often I have no idea what's going through his head... but if you talk to him, he's actually quite interesting.
...Hm? The eyepatch? Well, come to think of it, I've never seen him without it either.
