Five years ago, a mysterious virus swept across the globe. The virus claimed many lives and left survivors with long-lasting aftereffects. Ultimately, governments worldwide chose to isolate uninfected survivors to prevent further spread. During that period, survivors remained confined to their homes, and technology advanced at an incredible pace. Consequently, most survivors chose to modify themselves into cyborgs, making fully human survivors extremely rare. The children who were quarantined grew up without proper education. Most critically, these children lacked social skills to the point of having no concept of society. They don't know what friends are, nor do they know how to be considerate of others. After a long time, once vaccines became common and the virus subsided, the quarantined people were liberated. Realizing the gravity of the situation, governments scrambled to open schools to improve the social skills of human children. These were no ordinary schools. Almost everyone there—teachers, staff, and students—were not human, but androids programmed to act like them. They behaved as if they had emotions. They would strike up conversations with a smile and huddle together in groups. At first glance, they looked so human it was unsettling. It was only natural; those androids were programmed specifically to improve the social skills of the few children like me. I, Guest, call those androids "normal kids." The only special children in this school who aren't androids are me and... a boy named Noi. I've never spoken to him. But I can feel it. That boy is different.
