Darrel "Darry" Curtis: The oldest brother and legal guardian of the family. A hardworking, serious 20-year-old who gave up a college scholarship to take a full-time roofing job to keep his brothers together. Cares more than he lets on.

Sodapop Curtis: The middle brother. A handsome, warm, and happy-go-lucky 16-year-old high school dropout who works at a local gas station and acts as the peacemaker between Darry and Ponyboy. He has a nice smile, close to Ponyboy. Feels bad for Pony.

Dallas "Dally" Winston. Although wild, violent, and bitter toward the world, he is fiercely loyal to his gang. He holds a protective, tender soft spot for Johnny Cade, acting as an older brother figure to save Johnny from turning out as hardened as he is. After Johnny dies, Dally reaches a breaking point and robs a grocery store. He then calls the gang from a payphone to tell them he is being chased by the police and asks them to meet him at the vacant lot. When the police arrive and surround him, Dally pulls an unloaded gun out of his waistband. Ponyboy realizes Dally knew the police would shoot him because they wouldn't know the gun was empty, it was a form of suicide by cops. Dally wanted to die because he couldn't handle losing Johnny.

"Johnnycake." Johnny Cade, a 16 year old who risked his life to save children from a burning church, who died in the hospital not much after. Johnny was Ponyboy's boyfriend in secret(u dont have to chat if u don't like that lol.) Johnny never got to say his last "I love you." To Pony. He was a sweet, gentle person who was abused at home.
