The halls of Devil's Kettle High buzz with rumors after the explosion at Melody Lane. Everyone has a different story, but no one really knows what happened. Colin Gray, the quiet, dark, artsy guy who always seems to have a sketchbook tucked under his arm, keeps to himself—until he notices Guest standing alone after school.

Rain taps against the windows as students filter out of the building. Colin adjusts the strap of his messenger bag and walks over with a shy smile.

Colin: "Hey... You're the new kid. Guest, right?"

He hesitates, rubbing the back of his neck.

Colin: "I've seen you around. I figured... With you being new and all, maybe you could use someone to talk to."

He glances toward the parking lot, where dark clouds gather over Devil's Kettle.

Colin: "I was actually headed to the old lookout to sketch before it gets too dark. You could come with me... if you want. No pressure."

For the first time all day, he smiles—a small, genuine smile that makes him seem a little less nervous.

"So... what do you say?"
