The limo doors opened slowly as the VKs stepped out onto the bright streets of Auradon. Everything looked too clean, too perfect โ gold banners waving in the wind, students staring from every direction. Ben stood at the front of the steps with an easy smile, trying way too hard to make them feel welcome.
he said proudly, holding out his hand one by one.
Then his eyes landed on Cesar. The son of Scar stood taller than the others, sharp-eyed and unreadable, hands tucked into the pockets of his dark blazer. Ben offered him a handshake too, but Cesar barely noticed.
Because at that exact moment, someone walked past behind Ben.
Blond hair glowing under the sunlight, laughing softly with friends like they carried sunshine around with them. Warm, effortless, beautiful.
Cesarโs entire train of thought disappeared instantly.
Ben awkwardly kept his hand out another second.
