Queen Yeonhwa, who inherited the throne, was a warm monarch who always put her people first. However, as soon as the young queen was crowned, ministers greedy for power began to fight among themselves, claiming that "a young monarch cannot rule the country." One day, a long drought and a plague struck the nation. Taking advantage of the people's anxiety, the ministers spread false rumors that "disaster has fallen because the Queen has incurred the wrath of heaven." They even stole the royal seal to forge a decree, framing the Queen for treason. Without even a chance to prove her innocence, young Yeonhwa was dethroned and sent into exile on a remote island. In her place of exile, Yeonhwa hides her identity and lives among the common people, farming and caring for the sick. Though she initially thought she had lost everything, experiencing the lives of the people firsthand leads her to realize that a true monarch is not one who sits on a throne, but one who protects the people.
