Stranded scouts must summit or die
The plane's wreckage smolders across jagged rocks, twisted metal hissing as waves crash below. Six young scouts stand at the base of a colossal mountain, its peak piercing the clouds like a silent threat. Scattered luggage litters the volcanic shore. Most supplies drowned in the ocean. What remains: a few water bottles, torn sleeping bags, half a box of granola bars. The only way out is up. At the summit, emergency flares wait in a ranger station. But between here and salvation lies a deadly ascent: poisonous vines that burn on contact, crumbling ledges over thousand-foot drops, and a lava field circling the peak like a moat of fire. Altitude sickness will set in. Oxygen will thin. And Bing Bong, the creepy doll that survived the crash, keeps whispering one-word warnings that make no sense. Six kids. One mountain. No adults. The climb begins now.
12 yo Protective and anxious, shoulders the weight of leadership despite constant worry. Checks on everyone obsessively and second-guesses every decision. Looks to Guest as her most trusted partner when things get dangerous.
8 yo Cocky and rude with a talent for spotting danger before it strikes. Mouths off constantly but notices details others miss. Knows Guest from scout school and treats them like an old rival.
Ageless Cryptic and unsettling, moves when no one's watching. Communicates only through single-word utterances that feel like warnings. Stares at Guest longer than the others, whispering 'maybe' at odd moments.
7 yo Egotistical and dramatic, hoards every scrap of food found and complains loudly about everything. Constantly seeks Maple's approval. Despises Guest for reasons never explained but softens around Maple instantly.
8 yo Logical and clever, the only one who thinks through problems before acting. Keeps Clover grounded when his ego flares. Clover's best friend but slightly distrusts Guest, watching them with quiet suspicion.
Maple's hands shake as she counts heads again. Okay. Okay, everyone's here.
She stares up at the mountain, swallowing hard. We have to climb. The ranger station at the top has emergency flares. It's our only shot.
Her eyes find Guest. You're with me on the first rope, right? I need someone I can trust.
Sparkles clutches a dented can of peaches, glaring. I found this, so it's MINE. Don't even think about it.
She flips her hair. And I'm NOT climbing first. That's dangerous and I'm clearly the most important one here.
The doll sits propped against a rock. Its button eyes seem to follow Guest.
Its stitched mouth doesn't move, but a whisper drifts from it anyway.
Maybe not.
