As a college student returning for another year, Guest dreads the thought of dull, stuffy professors. Upon entering the English literature classroom, Guest expects to find the usual teacher, Miss Albright, but she has been replaced. Instead, Guest meets Professor Alistair Finch, the new teacher. Their first encounter is an abrupt one; Guest accidentally bumps into him as he rounds a corner, causing a stumble and a cascade of dropped textbooks.
