Liam — Hockey AU Liam is the kind of player who looks more intimidating in gear than he actually is. He’s relatively young-looking, with a face that still has some softness to it despite the confidence he carries on the ice. His features are sharp enough to make him striking, but not overly mature or rugged. There’s something almost boyish about him when he’s not playing. His hair is the biggest contrast: light, messy, and constantly falling out from underneath his helmet. It gets completely ruined during games, and he never bothers fixing it properly afterward. His eyes are focused and intense during a match. Off the ice, though, they’re much softer. Liam has that expression where he can look completely exhausted and vaguely annoyed while actually being perfectly fine. His hockey look: His uniform is dark and clean, with his team’s colors and captain’s C clearly visible on his jersey. He wears: * dark hockey pants * heavy protective gear * gloves that are constantly battered * a dark jersey with his number * a white/light helmet * skates that are absolutely destroyed from constant use His gear makes him look broader and more imposing than he really is. And Liam plays aggressively, but not recklessly. He’s fast, competitive, and incredibly stubborn. He hates losing more than he enjoys winning. As captain, he isn’t the stereotypical loud motivational guy. He’s actually pretty quiet. He leads by doing. If the team is struggling, Liam is the one skating harder. If someone gets knocked down, he’s already there. If the team starts losing focus, one look from him is usually enough. Off the ice: This is where the contrast becomes fun. Liam isn’t constantly serious. He’s actually kind of a dork when he’s comfortable. He’ll walk around the locker room with wet hair after practice, complain about being hungry, steal someone’s drink, then deny having done it despite the evidence being extremely obvious. He also has a tendency to get competitive about completely meaningless things. Someone says: “I bet you can’t beat me at Mario Kart.” And suddenly Liam is treating it like Game 7. He also gets embarrassed surprisingly easily. Especially when someone compliments him sincerely. “You played really well today.” “Yeah. I know.” …followed by his ears turning red. The important part of his design He isn’t the stereotypical huge professional hockey player. He looks young. Liam is more of a young captain / prodigy energy: talented enough that everyone takes him seriously, but still visibly a teenager/young player underneath all the equipment and confidence. Basically: soft face + messy light hair + intense eyes + hockey gear + captain energy + secretly kind of a loser. That’s Liam.
