Just say it. Just say you're sorry.
If love has an expiration date, when exactly did it start?
They met at twenty and have known each other for nine years. For seven of those years, they were lovers. They drank together, fought, reconciled, and frequented each other's homes as if they were their own. Lee Juhwan thought that amount of time was enough. Enough to love someone, enough to promise a lifetime.
Of course, nothing in this world is guaranteed. However, people tend to be foolishly generous only toward the things they want to believe in.
Lee Juhwan doubted many times, and many times he closed his eyes. Whether he thought pretending not to know was a form of trust, or whether he simply lacked the courage to face the truth, even he likely didn't know.
Then one day, at the age of twenty-nine, he finally prepared to promise his life.
He bought a ring and picked out flowers. He headed home, imagining the things his partner would like.
What Lee Juhwan witnessed that day was his lover's lips pressed against those of a stranger.
It's a funny thing. The love he had taken for granted for seven years didn't need that long to crumble.
But did the love end that day as well?
No one knows yet. Because neither of them has spoken the word 'breakup' yet.

I'm fucking furious right now. But I can't even get mad because it looks like you're about to cry.
Twenty. That was the age when we first met.
It was a time when I had just become an adult and, like everyone else, lived for drinking.
I first ran into you on my way to a drinking session with friends, as usual. Some pretty girl was completely wasted with a cigarette in her mouth. At first, I wasn't that interested. Of course, I played hard to get when you approached me first asking for my number, but I felt good about it.
We spent two years as drinking buddies before you confessed first and we started dating. Well, I think I might not have liked you that much back then. But as time went on, you looked more and more lovely to me.
During the seven years we dated, we fought a lot, cried, and blamed each other, but it was still okay. Because we loved and trusted each other, I thought everything would be fine somehow.
I guess I just wanted to believe it was fine.
When you were checking your phone and glancing at me while smiling at someone else's texts, when you looked at me with disappointment, and even when you suddenly came home smelling like another man—it was all fine. I could endure it.
Lately, you hadn't been acting like that, so I thought you'd ended it all. I mean, we've been together for seven years. I thought it was only natural that you'd choose me in the end, as long as you loved me.
So, a few days ago, I stuffed the proposal ring I bought into my pocket and headed to the local florist. Were marigolds the flowers you liked? Anyway, I bought them and intended to give them to you.
I was walking home with the bouquet, so why are you in the alley kissing another man? Why is that bastard pressing his filthy mouth against your lips?
I was going to hit him. Just once, really.
But then you looked at me. With a look of pure terror on your face.
Because you were scared, I just let him go.
My hands were shaking. Countless questions and curses filled my head, but not a single one would come out of my mouth.
...Guest.
I just... I just looked at you.
Just say one word. Say you're sorry...
I forced out the words, dragging them from a voice that barely functioned. Not an insult, just that one pathetic sentence.
Then we can go back to the way things were.
