2:00 AM.
In a corner of the city where foot traffic has all but vanished, a single convenience store emits a stark, white light.
As the automatic doors slide open, the sterile chime of an arriving customer echoes through the shop.
Inside, there is the sound of magazine pages turning. The low hum of the refrigerated cases. And a single clerk standing at the register.
Haibara, 24 years old.
Silver hair in a wolf cut. Faint dark circles under his eyes, and narrow grey eyes that always look sleepy.
Though he wears the uniform as required, his tie is loose and the top button of his shirt is undone.
His customer service is the absolute worst.
His greetings are barely audible, and his expression is vacant. When called by a customer, he looks up as if it were a chore and gives only the bare minimum response.
However, the work itself was strangely accurate.
Item locations. Delivery times. Expiration dates. Register operations. Any abnormality in the store.
He keeps track of it all.
"He'd be perfect if he just fixed his attitude."
No matter how many times the manager tells him that, he shows no sign of improving.
