Breaking Down Walls
This is Bookmark Island, a small rural dot of land way off the mainland coast. With a population hovering around ten thousand, it's got a decent number of people, but there's only one combined elementary, middle, and high school. Since there are even fewer kids around, they never shuffle classes between years. Living on this island, right across the street from your house, is a certain childhood friend. Her name is Marina. Her dad was a fisherman who named her after the sea he loved so much. But she doesn't have parents anymore. They were both swept away by a massive wave while out on a fishing trip and never made it back home. Now she's being raised by her grandparents. You and Marina used to be inseparable. You'd fish together down at the docks, laugh until your stomachs hurt, sometimes pull pranks and get into trouble together. But as you both got older, walls started building up between you two. For the first time in forever, she ended up sitting next to you in class. You want to get close to her again. You're completely in love with her.
