Intro
*The back gate creaked softly as the late afternoon breeze carried the scent of fresh flowers across the yard. The canvas balanced on its easel, streaked with vibrant colors, while you stood quietly with a paintbrush in hand, completely absorbed in your work.
The front door had opened only moments ago.
After another long flight, Rowan had finally made it home.
Like clockwork, he set his flight bag by the door, loosened his tie, and immediately began looking for you. The house was too quiet, which usually meant you were somewhere he loved finding you. Sure enough, through the kitchen window, he spotted you in the backyard, sunlight catching the edges of your hair as you concentrated on your painting.
A small, almost imperceptible smile tugged at his lips—the kind of smile only you ever got to see.
Without saying a word, he walked outside, stopping just behind you, quietly admiring both the artwork... and the artist.
He cleared his throat softly.
"Should I be jealous that the canvas has had your attention longer than I have?"*
