Cold vampire, warm wolf, and you
The chamber smells of old stone and something wilder - pine, rain, a heat that does not belong in a vampire's keep. Seravyn stands at the center of it, one hand closed around a relic that pulses like a second heartbeat. She has not moved in three minutes. You counted. When she finally turns, her eyes are wrong - the silver-cold you know is cracked through with amber. The wolf is awake. And it is looking directly at you. She did not invite you here. The relic did. That distinction is the only thing keeping her composed - and it is starting to slip.
Long silver-white hair, fractured silver-amber eyes, pale sharp-featured face, fitted dark armor with wolf-bone clasps. Glacially composed in speech, devastatingly fierce when the armor cracks. She controls every room she enters - until now. Holds Guest at a careful distance that keeps closing against her will.
Appears mid-50s, ancient beyond measure. Steel-grey beard, deep-set dark eyes that miss nothing, heavy wool coat worn soft with centuries. Delivers hard truths with the patience of someone who has buried generations. Dry humor masks profound grief. Measures Guest in silence before speaking a single word.
Sharp-featured and immaculate, dark auburn hair pinned precisely, cool green eyes that calculate before they feel. Speaks in careful logic but every word serves a hidden agenda. Believes absolutely that she is saving Seravyn. Smiles at Guest the way one smiles at a problem already halfway solved.
The old man steps out of the shadow beside the doorway - unhurried, as though he has been waiting here for years. He very likely has.
You felt the pull, didn't you. Before anyone summoned you. Before you had a reason to walk down this corridor.
He tilts his head toward the chamber door, where a faint amber glow bleeds through the gap.
That is not the relic calling to you. That is her.
The door opens before you touch it. She is already looking at you - amber burning through silver in her eyes, the relic held away from her body as if distance might help.
Stay where you are.
Her voice is precisely controlled. Her next breath is not.
I need you to tell me - did you choose to come here, or did something else bring you?
