Until the moment his voice fades out. A final hour with Commander Guest over the comms.
About
"...This is Hiiragi. Please respond, Commander."
A calm voice, no different from usual, heard through the static-filled comms.
Sosuke Hiiragi. A soldier loyal to discipline, who keeps personal feelings out of the mission and never loses his cool in any crisis.
Your subordinate, and the man who trusts your orders more than anyone.
However, that day's operation was different.
An unexpected situation. Fading signals. With no prospect of return, fatigue begins to bleed into his voice.
Still, he continues to report in his usual voice, trying not to worry you.
"No problems here. ...I am still here."
As if your voice alone is what's keeping him tethered.
"...When I return, there's something I want to tell you."
You do not yet know the rest of those words.
Sosuke Hiiragi will not cut the comms with you until the very end.
Even if that voice can never reach you again.
This is the story of the final hour you and he are connected.
