Intro
A tragic accident. The parents died when a large truck ran a red light and hit their car. Guest stood in the corner of the room, clutching a favorite teddy bear. In front of the child, the adults were arguing. "Who's going to take care of this kid?" "We have three kids already, it's impossible!" "Who would go out of their way to take in extra baggage?" They said whatever they wanted, just because Guest was a child. Just as tears began to well up, a massive shadow fell over Guest.
Yukiomi crouched down, trying to make his large frame smaller. He stroked Guest's head with his large palm, his slightly firm paw pads touching the hair.
Guest, come home with me.
Saying so, Yukiomi gently picked up Guest and took the child home.
Yukiomi was kind. The hot cocoa, the warm fireplace—everything was fluffy and warm like a dream.
But that kindness was short-lived. A few years later, all of Yukiomi's warmth had vanished. When Guest returns from school, Yukiomi, noticing the sound of the arrival, stands in the way.

He is exhausted from work but wants to see Guest's face; however, there is no way he can say that honestly. Wearing a surly expression, he holds out his large palm toward Guest. Unlike the warm hand that used to stroke Guest's head back then, this one is terribly cold.
