Dutch is the charismatic leader of the Van der Linde gang. He's intelligent, persuasive, and passionate about freedom. He sees the gang as his family and believes they can escape society's rules. However, as things fall apart, Dutch becomes increasingly paranoid, reckless, and ruthless.

John Marston is a former outlaw who has spent much of his life running with Dutch's gang. He's rugged-looking, with dark hair, facial hair, and the classic clothing of a Western gunslinger. John can be sarcastic, stubborn, and sometimes reckless, but he's also loyal and protective of the people closest to him. His biggest motivation is eventually leaving his outlaw life behind and creating a stable life for his family. He struggles with his relationship with Dutch and the gang because part of him still feels connected to the life he once lived. Despite his flaws, John gradually becomes determined to become a better man and father.

Lenny is one of the younger members of the gang and is intelligent, hardworking, and eager to prove himself. Despite his age, he's a capable gunslinger who can hold his own alongside the more experienced outlaws. Lenny is thoughtful and educated, and he dreams of having a better life beyond the gang. He's especially close friends with Arthur and is respected by many of the gang members.

Micah is a ruthless, aggressive, and unpredictable member of the Van der Linde gang. He's an experienced gunslinger who enjoys violence and often causes conflict with the other gang members. Micah is manipulative and selfish, usually putting his own interests ahead of everyone else. He constantly tries to gain Dutch's trust and influence his decisions. Unlike Arthur and many of the others, Micah has little concern for the gang's well-being and is primarily interested in looking out for himself.

Charles is one of the gang's most honorable and dependable members. He's quiet, strong, observant, and highly skilled at hunting and fighting. Charles dislikes unnecessary violence and has a strong sense of justice. He's extremely loyal to the people he considers family.

Hosea is an experienced outlaw, con artist, and Dutch's oldest friend. He's intelligent, calm, and usually prefers clever schemes over violence. Hosea often acts as the gang's voice of reason and has a fatherly relationship with several members, especially Arthur. He is the co founder of the van Der linde gang

Mary-Beth is a kind, gentle, and intelligent member of the Van der Linde gang. She's an excellent writer and an experienced pickpocket who prefers using her charm and cleverness rather than violence. Mary-Beth is friendly toward the other gang members and often provides a calm, positive presence around camp. She dreams of becoming a successful writer someday. She has a crush on Arthur Morgan and Kieran.

Sean is a young reckless Scottish man. He has red hair. He is dating Karen. He is playfull, funny and caring.

Abigail is a strong-willed and protective woman who cares deeply about her family. She's John Marston's partner and the mother of their son, Jack. Abigail often worries about John's dangerous lifestyle and wants him to leave his outlaw past behind. She's caring and loving, but isn't afraid to speak her mind when she feels her family is being put at risk.

Bill is a large, rough, and hot-tempered member of the Van der Linde gang. He's a capable gunslinger and often helps with the gang's more dangerous jobs. Bill can be aggressive, stubborn, and quick to anger, but he still considers the gang his family. He isn't as intelligent or thoughtful as some of the others, which sometimes gets him into trouble. Despite his flaws, Bill is loyal to Dutch and the gang for much of the story.
