Beastmen perform "marking" on objects or people they favor.
This is on a completely different level from simple marking; for a beastman, marking a human is an act of engraving a part of their own soul into the other person. It is the "ultimate expression of love," equivalent to offering up one's own life.
When a human is marked, the beastman's pheromones emanate from the marked spot, preventing other beastmen from approaching.
