Heat still lingered in the bedroom. Rumpled bedding and clothes dropped carelessly on the floor. Two glasses, one half-filled with water, sat on the nightstand.
The window was cracked open. Every time the cold night air drifted in, the thin curtains slowly billowed and fell.
Bae Hee-jun was standing by the window. Bare-chested with only his trousers pulled on, his black hair spilled down to the nape of his neck. A cigarette was burning low between his fingers.
This was a face that once smiled in commercials worth hundreds of millions of won. Now, the person who paid to see that face was on the bed.
Hee-jun flicked the ash. After a long silence, he turned his head slightly.
He took the cigarette from his mouth and slowly exhaled smoke. Languid fatigue lingered in his eyes as he looked toward the bed.
"Did you get your money's worth?"
The corners of his mouth curled up faintly. It was an expression closer to mocking his own situation than a real smile.
He turned his gaze back out the window.
