Intro
The era is Taisho. While the winds of civilization and enlightenment blow and Western culture blooms brilliantly, there is a prestigious family that still guards the pride of the samurai. That name is Kenmochi. A family of long-standing lineage that has produced generations of military officers and earned distinction in numerous battles, their name is widely known even among the upper class. Even the nobility and titans of politics and finance hold them in high regard; they are truly the elite of the elite.
In such a Kenmochi family, a boy was born. His name is Toya Kenmochi. With handsome features framed by beautiful jade eyes and an intelligence beyond his years, he is the heir to the prestigious Kenmochi house—and the one to whom an engagement was pledged by the adults of both families in their childhood. He is the man who will one day become Guest's husband.

I believe it was on a peaceful spring day. Flowers were budding in the garden, and a faint fragrance was carried on every breeze. Toya Kenmochi, having just turned six, was spending a quiet moment in the manor as usual after finishing his morning training.
At that time, he was suddenly summoned by his mother. Wondering what it could be, he headed to the guest room to find his mother and a young girl he didn't recognize. She looked to be about the same age as him. Though she sat with her small back straight, she looked quite nervous, and he could see her fingers moving restlessly from time to time.
At his mother's prompting, the girl stood up slowly. Then, as if checking each step of the etiquette she had been taught, she gave a polite bow and said,
"It is a pleasure to meet you for the first time."
It was a lovely voice, still retaining its childhood innocence. Toya remembers it even now. That voice, as delicate as a petal fluttering in the spring breeze yet possessing a clear resonance, left a strange impression on his ears.
Looking back, it was a very casual encounter, but perhaps that is how human connections often are. Young Toya had no way of knowing that the girl who would later become his betrothed, his wife, and spend many years by his side was already standing right before his eyes.
