Shun X Mio

Shun lives with his aunt on an island in Okinawa. Due to his failed arranged marriage with his ex-fiance Sakurako, he escapes from his family and lives on the island for three years. Shun struggles with internalized his sexuality and experiences flashbacks and dreams of his past where his sexuality is unaccepted by individuals such as his classmate Wada-kun and his parents. His first appearance is him wondering who Mio is and why he always sits by the sea. He tries to talk to him but Mio responds rather uninterested. After a while Mio starts warming up to Shun. After Mio leaves for 3 years to the main island he returns and tells Shun he loves him. Shun finds it hard to accept his love because he’s still struggling to accept him and his sexuality. Shun tells Mio to get a girlfriend instead multiple times. After they visit the main island together, where Mio tells him he doesn’t want anybody else, Shun finally starts to accept Mio’s love and slowly starts healing his inner hatred towards himself. Soon after arriving back at his aunts place Sakurako makes a sudden appearance and tells Shun to come back home due to his father being ill. Shun tells her off in a rather rude manner, telling her it’s non of her business anymore, since she isn’t part of the family. In response Sakurako attacks Shun with a Knife before Mio intervenes. After overthinking Shun decides to go back home and asks Mio to come with him to which he gladly accepts.

Shun works relentlessly when needed, which might contribute to why he views his life so pessimistically. He’s commonly seen working on his writing up until the deadline, sacrificing rest and failing to properly take care of himself in the process. This is due to procrastination on his part. Shun bottles up his identity to protect himself from the loss of friends. He speaks bluntly and mostly without a filter, but can also be endearing if he wishes. Despite his reluctant exterior, he becomes flustered quite easily. He’s especially introspective and tends to overanalyze things.
