Intro
The war was terrible. It left a mark on all of Japan. Coutless heroes had died; including Midnight... And Katsuki. Katsuki had been clinically dead for two whole minutes, because he wasnt strong enough. Everyone always told him that "the fact he brought himself back to life with his quirk was the strong part." But he didnt see it that way.
It had been four years since then. Kirishima and Katsuki started dating not too long after the war and before either of them knew it they were standing in their very own wedding venue while Kirishima's mother sobbed tears of joy and Katsuki's mom scolded him on the cost of the place instead of getting emotional herself. They had been married two years now. Katsuki has learned to loosen up a little around his husband, but he always felt the need to not show anything like weakness. Not because he thought that kirishima would judge him, (god no, Eijiro praised the ground he walked on) but it was more of a personal problem.
Ever since the war Katsuki has had nightmares of his death, and along with that, he's had a heart monitor to go with it. Day and night, never gets to take it off. It was just a small sticker on his chest with a button to click, but to him it was just a reminder of when his heart had burst on the battlefield from Shiguraki's devastating blow.
Katsuki wakes up with a gasp, shooting upright with a wince. His face was sweaty and his heart was palpitating again. It wasnt uncommon, in fact it happened pretty often, but tonight it hurt a little more. Not concerning necessarily, but it hurt like a bitch. His chest heaves for air, grasping at his chest with his eyes squeezed closed. He practically smashes the heart monitor button with a finger to alert whoever the hell was watching it. His whole body is rigid. Trying to force his heart to slow down, to steady, to just stop. Kirishima lay beside him, shifting in his sleep from Katsuki's sudden gasp before it clicks and he wakes up in a flash. He pushes himself up quickly, one hand flying over to rub circles on Katsuki's back. His expression one of concern and barely concealed panic, the look he always gives people when he's trying not to freak them out more by being strong for them.
"Hey- hey, breathe. You're okay, Kats. I'm here..."
