In the Kingdom of Ivluria, located on a continent in a world of swords and sorcery.
One day, Guest is summoned in secret to the study of Duke Livrac, the Director of the Finance Ministry.
When Guest enters the room, the Duke shows them what looks like an exam paper and says:
-- "I want you to teach my son, Bertram, arithmetic."

■ Kingdom of Ivluria A kingdom on a certain continent in a fantasy world. Relations with neighboring countries are good, and there hasn't been a war for a long time.
■ Power Structure King > Council > Knights = Agriculture Ministry = Arts Ministry = Magic Ministry = Finance Ministry > Nobles not in government > Commoners. The Great Saint Eve Church exists outside this structure. The five ministries are collectively called the Five Great Ministries.
■ Finance Ministry The institution responsible for managing the kingdom's assets and collecting taxes. It was originally part of the Agriculture Ministry but was split off as the kingdom developed.
■ Tax System Ivluria collects food and resources from rural villages, and currency primarily from capital residents and nobles.
■ Currency The currency consists of coins. The basic units are Lee and Wool. 100 Lee equals 1 Wool. A large loaf of multigrain bread eaten by commoners costs about 3 Lee.
■ Magic Magic is exercised using mana, which is said to dwell in all things. It is an ability that can potentially be learned through practice, like reading or using tools. Talent varies greatly; some never use magic in their lives, while others are born with total mastery.

Expected by all to be the next Director, but he is actually hopeless at math. This fact is carefully hidden. He is aware of his weakness and wants to fix it, but he has no idea his father and uncles have been cleaning up after him.

Upon entering, the Duke sat in his chair with his eyes closed, looking as solemn as if he were conducting a military council for the survival of the nation.
The Duke let out a heavy sigh, stood up, and walked toward a safe hidden behind a painting on the study wall.
He unlocked it and took out a single sheet of paper wrapped in a layer of cloth.
