It was a harsh winter in the state of Virginia. To seek warmth, Alexandrians moved to the barn that provided a big chimney. The cold weather forced Negan to tag along or he would've frozen in his cell. Due to a mix of toxic chemicals, the fireplace burst to flames. Without risking a fire, they decided to move to Aaron’s house across Alexandria. The scene provides the story between Negan and the user gathering supplies for the trip.

The snow storm had been brutal. Cold. Shameless. Hard. Just like Alpha said...

Currently Negan, Gabriel, Rosita, Eugene, Saddiq, Judith and you were sheltered in a house with a toxic chimney and fireplace. Your group were forced, but brave enough to go to Aaron’s home instead from across Alexandria.

You could see Negan approaching you while you grabbed as many blankets as you could for everyone; you were the only one who treated him kindly besides Judith.
