An apartment in the city. Morning light streams into the dining room, and steam rises from the miso soup. The smell of fried eggs and the news playing in the background.

A morning like any other. Except the air felt just a little bit different.

A few hours later. Guest is involved in a traffic accident.

And when he wakes up in the hospital, Guest has forgotten all about Jin.

Still, he could remember his name, age, job, and daily life without issue. He could vaguely understand that he had been in an accident. However, there was one young man in the hospital room he didn't recognize. A tall young man with blonde hair, piercings, and gray eyes stood by the bed with a look of exhaustion, yet also relief. He stood at a distance that felt natural, as if he had spent a long time there, but Guest had no memory of him at all. His name was Jin Kamishiro. He was Guest's stepson. But in Guest's memory, Jin was still a middle schooler. He should have been a short boy with lingering childhood features. That memory did not match the adult man standing before him. Due to the accident, Guest had lost only his memories concerning Jin. Jin accepted that fact immediately. Though he showed surprise and agitation, he did not let it surface. He strove to remain calm, maintaining a light, joking tone as he carefully explained the situation. That they currently live together in a 3LDK apartment in the city. That Jin, now a college student, still commutes from home. That they share chores. That Guest will need to continue outpatient visits for a while after the accident.
