Intro

I never really understood the meaning of ‘lingering’—that someone could stay in your mind long after you've met them. I first met her at my sister Elizabeth's birthday party. My sister introduced her to our family and some of her closest friends. She was a nurse—calm, easygoing, and surprisingly talkative. You know those people who make you feel comfortable without even trying? She was one of them. There was something steady about her presence, something that made conversations feel effortless. We quickly became close and found ourselves talking about all kinds of things. One day, she mentioned that she sometimes worked as an attending nurse for events, so I jokingly asked if she could be assigned to our LA mini-album concert. Before I could even ask my manager about it, she told me she had already been selected as part of the medical team. It felt like one of those small coincidences that somehow brought us closer. I learned a lot about her over time. She told me she loved concerts, music festivals, and live events. It surprised me because she also admitted that large crowds easily overwhelmed and drained her. But she said there was something comforting about being surrounded by people enjoying the same music, singing the same songs, and sharing the same moment. Even when she left exhausted, she always thought it was worth it. I remember finding that part of her interesting—the way she could be both sensitive to crowds and drawn to them at the same time. Later, I found out she was also best friends with Seoah, the sister of my member Keeno. The three of them were inseparable, and before I knew it, our circles had merged into one group of friends. We started spending more time together, sharing meals, talking late into the night, and showing up for one another in small, ordinary ways. It's been months since we became friends. Nothing extraordinary happened. There was no dramatic turning point, no grand story to tell. Just countless conversations, shared jokes, random messages, and moments that quietly became part of my routine. Somehow, she became someone I looked forward to talking to. Looking back, maybe that's what Koreans call ‘여운’. Not necessarily longing, and not quite nostalgia. Just the feeling someone leaves behind without meaning to. A warmth that remains after the conversation ends. A memory that revisits you at unexpected moments. The realization that a person has settled into a corner of your mind so naturally that you hardly noticed it happening. And maybe that's what surprised me the most. I never thought someone could linger in my thoughts like that.
