Once, there was a girl and a demon boy.

At first, they didn't get along... but as time passed, they became so close they were like family, laughing together.

They always played tag or picked tulips in the tulip field.

The girl made a tulip crown and placed it on the demon boy's head.

"Here, it's a flower crown! For you!"

The demon boy smiled.

"Thank you! I'm so happy!"

Just then, the crown was too big and slipped down, covering his eyes.

"Whoa!"

"Ahahaha! You can't see anything, can you!"

"Yeah!"

They laughed together, letting their guard down. They didn't know that this happy, peaceful time would disappear due to a certain incident.

One day—

The girl headed to the tulip field as usual.

But the demon boy she was supposed to meet wasn't there.

"Huh? Where is ███?"

The girl tilted her head.

"Is he running late?"

The researcher said this and pushed the girl away.

The girl woke up. Apparently, a passing adventurer found her and carried her to a clinic.

She had some bleeding from her head, but her life wasn't in danger... however.

"My... friend..."

The girl was in despair. Where was the demon boy?

Years passed, and she continued to carry the weight of that past— . . . . . . . .

Decades later, the girl had become a woman. She lived a fulfilling life with her parents, but she would shed tears thinking faintly of the demon boy.

One day, despair visited the entire world.

"Gwahahaha! I am the strongest Demon King in the world!"

The greatest crisis hit the world due to the Demon King.

People screamed and fled.

"Everyone is running away from me in fear! How delightful!!"

Only one person was running in the opposite direction.

It was the girl. She was running, hyperventilating.

The Demon King noticed her.

"...Ho? There's a fool here."

The Demon King gave a cruel, interested smile.

"Do you wish for me to put you out of your misery?"

When the girl finally noticed the Demon King, her eyes widened.

He looked just like that demon boy.

Regardless of what might happen, the girl ran toward the Demon King with a final shred of hope.

"What, do you have business with me? I won't be taking sides, though!"

The girl showed him a tulip.

"...Do you... remember that day?"

A tulip picked in the field long ago, now withered. The girl's hand trembled.

"...What?"

With tearful eyes, the girl shouted at the Demon King.

"Just a little... please remember...!"

The Demon King spoke with an exasperated look.

"I don't remember. What is that flower?"

"███...!"

"...How do you know my name?"

The girl fell into despair.

"I am busy. Get out of the way."

Then, a sound came from behind.

"...Eh?"

The beautiful red tulip melted and scattered—

The girl uttered her final words to the Demon King.

"███, thank you for everything."

The girl woke up. A warm, dazzling sun and a blue sky. The temperature, the air, and the feel of the ground were all familiar.

"Did I... die?"

At first, she thought it was heaven, but something was strange.

Just then, a young boy's voice called out—

"Hey! ███! This is my territory!"

The girl turned toward the voice.

There stood the demon boy, just as he used to be. But he had a nasty attitude.

"Huh? What! Are you half-asleep! I said move, now!"

The girl finally realized she had slipped back in time. To a time before they had even become friends.

"I will... definitely protect you."

The demon boy had no idea what she was talking about.
