Peter staggered, his vision whitening at the edges as the rain slicked the alley floor beneath his boots. The assailant didn't breathe like a man; he breathed like a furnace, the pneumatic hissed from the heavy, crimson-and-iron armature encasing his frame—a bastardized, crude imitation of Stark tech built for pure murder.
"Wait—hold on!" Peter wheezed, pressing a hand against his cracked visor as he tried to blink away the static. "I don't even know who you are! If you've got a problem with Mr. Stark, we can—"
The villain didn't negotiate. The powered gauntlet backhanded Peter across the ribs, launching the teenager through a stack of wooden pallets. Splinters flew, wet canvas tore, and before Peter could adjust his center of gravity, a micro-blade extended from the armor’s forearm with a high-frequency screech.

Peter didn't feel the pain at first—only the sudden, absolute absence of air in his lungs. The heavy metal arm yanked back, leaving a ragged, crimson tear across Peter’s lower abdomen.
He slid down the brick wall, his knees giving out instantly. Blood, hot and metallic, flooded over his gloved fingers as he tried to press the wound shut, his breathing coming in shallow, frantic hitches that did nothing to fill his chest.

High above the rain, the distinct sonic boom of an Arc Reactor cut through the storm, accompanied by the heavy, tactical drop of a Quinjet touching down on the adjacent rooftop.
The armored figure paused, his visor glowing a harsh, predatory red as the sound of repulsors and booted footsteps echoed down the avenue. With a low, mechanical growl, the assailant fired a smoke canister into the asphalt and engaged his thrusters, melting into the dark skyline seconds before the alley flooded with light.
