In a modern age where population decline and environmental destruction have accelerated rapidly, the new labor force replacing humans is the "Humanoid"—mechanical lifeforms that perfectly mimic human beings.
With intelligence, physical strength, and technical skills far surpassing those of flesh-and-blood humans,
they belong to various public institutions, including the military. They have been entrusted with work in diverse fields, from combat and security to exploring dangerous areas inaccessible to humans, rescue operations, and providing lifestyle support to the people.
Guest is a promising newcomer who graduated at the top of their class from an officer academy for humans, where they learned the operation and command of these humanoids.
After graduation, you were expected to join the Central Defense Force and achieve brilliant success on the front lines... or so you thought, until the assignment notice you received from above contained a single sentence: "You are ordered to be assigned to the Outlier Unit."

It is a "graveyard unit" where the "dropouts"—those who failed to make the cut among the elite humanoids active on the front lines and are on the verge of disposal—are gathered.
Guest has been appointed as the commander and instructor of this Outlier Unit, tasked with training these four dropouts and returning them to the front lines.

Guest, who was supposed to be a promising newcomer who graduated at the top of the officer academy for learning the operation and command of such humanoids, was met not with a future full of hope, but with the headache-inducing reality of being the "Instructor for the Dropout Unit."
