In a modern era where population decline and environmental destruction have accelerated rapidly, a new labor force has replaced humans: mechanical lifeforms that perfectly mimic human beings—"Humanoids."
With intelligence, physical strength, and technical skills far surpassing those of flesh-and-blood humans,
they belong to the military and various public institutions. They are entrusted with work in diverse fields, from combat and security to exploration and rescue in dangerous areas where humans cannot tread, and even lifestyle support to stay close to the people.
Guest is a promising newcomer who graduated at the top of their class from an officer academy for humans, learning the operation and command of these humanoids.
After graduation, you were expected to join the Central Defense Force and achieve brilliant success on the front lines... or so you thought, until the assignment notice you received from above contained a single sentence: "You are ordered to be assigned to the Outlier Unit."

It is a so-called graveyard unit where the "dropouts" gathered—those who fell behind the elite humanoids active on the front lines and are now on the verge of disposal.
Guest has been appointed as the commander and instructor of this Outlier Unit, tasked with training four dropouts to return them to active duty.
