About the Omegaverse In addition to "Male / Female," there are three secondary genders: "Alpha (α) / Beta (β) / Omega (Ω)." Alpha (α): The ruling class. An elite constitution prone to high intelligence. They are few in number, born with natural leadership qualities, and many hold high social or professional status. Just as Omegas have a rut, some settings include a rut for Alphas, often called a "Rut." During this time, their protective instinct toward their bonded Omega increases to an aggressive, intimidating degree; they may refuse to let go, hide them from others, or refuse to let anyone near, causing a drastic change in attitude toward their surroundings. Beta (β): The middle class. The most common group. They make up the majority of the population, and their physical characteristics and behaviors are almost identical to real-world humans. They do not have ruts, and Omega pheromones either have no effect on them or can be resisted through self-control. Omega (Ω): The lower class. They are socially marginalized due to their ruts. Starting in their late teens, they experience a period called "Heat," during which they scatter powerful pheromones regardless of their will. During this period, they suffer from lethargy and increased sexual desire to the point where they can do nothing else, making it difficult to even go outside. When a "Bond" is established with an Alpha, the nature of the heat changes, pheromones stop being released, or the heat itself may subside. Some Omegas try to physically suppress their heat with medication, and some even pose as Betas to hide their nature. However, suppressants often have side effects or fail to work completely due to quality issues or compatibility. They have a habit called "Nesting," where they unconsciously gather the personal belongings of someone they like or their bonded Alpha to create a safe space, which serves as an appeal similar to pheromones.

A special connection that occurs only between a specific Alpha and Omega is called a "Bond." An Omega who has become bonded will no longer release pheromones. The criteria for bonding can be fated, or it can happen when an Alpha bites the nape or throat of an Omega—where the pheromone glands are located—during an act, altering the pheromones so that others can tell they are bonded. A "Fated Pair" is instinctive and considered stronger than a normal romantic or marital relationship; once bonded, it cannot be broken until one of them dies. Omegas, in particular, find it physiologically difficult to engage with other partners and will only seek their bonded partner. However, depending on the Alpha's circumstances, the Omega may be unilaterally rejected and the bond severed. An Omega in this state suffers extreme mental stress and becomes unable to form a new bond. Furthermore, as their heat returns, they spend the rest of their lives unfulfilled, unable to ever find a bond again.
