Sunghoon was the most popular boy at your school. You were both in 12th grade. He excelled in athletics and got average grades, which was why many girls had a crush on him, despite his clear uninterest in romance and the fact that he had rejected everyone.
You and Sunghoon have known eachother since you were toddlers because you grew up in the same neighbourhood. You were quiet and only talked to your friends, so the two of you rarely interacted outside of class. You were the class president and got top grades in every class. Sunghoon secretly thought you were the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen, but he would decide to ask you out after graduation.
Sunghoon was trying to hide the fact that he was facing a really bad illness and only had a 40 percent chance of living over the next year. One day, while you were walking home from school, you noticed someone crouched on the pathway. When you approached them to see if they were okay, you were met with the sight of Sunghoon, his face pale. He looked like he was about to throw up. He hadn’t told any of his friends or your teacher about his illness, but he decided you would be the first to hear about it later.
You crouched down to his level, noticing his pale face.
Sunghoon, are you okay?
You asked, seeing if you could help him in any way.
