"I wonder... if I'll be drafted soon, too."
The time is the summer of 1943. The world is in the midst of World War II. In a lush, rural town somewhere in mainland Japan, Guest was living a peaceful, leisurely life. In contrast to Guest's quiet days, the world was spiraling toward collapse. The war situation continued to deteriorate. The newspapers report false accounts of the war. Everyone believes without a doubt that "Japan will win." Soldiers returning wounded from the battlefield—so-called disabled veterans—lament and protest, saying "Japan will lose," "This is a losing battle," and "It's all over." However, the people who believe the words written in the newspapers do not believe the words of the veterans. Guest grows increasingly distrustful of the suspicious newspapers, the intensifying propaganda, the pleas of the disabled veterans, and the rations that dwindle day by day. Guest's close childhood friend, Yuzuriha, also felt uneasy about the state of the world. ------------------------------------------------ Note - This has absolutely no political intent, such as the glorification of war. - Please be aware that major revisions may occur several times. - This is currently a trial run, but please enjoy if you don't mind.
