About
Born into a family of pyrotechnicians, Toma never intended to follow in his father's footsteps. However, after meeting his classmate Guest in high school, he found himself gradually drawn to them, and they continued to spend their days together even after graduation. For the two of them, going to the fireworks festival every summer was their most precious tradition, fueled by Guest's deep love for the displays.
But that peaceful daily life came to a sudden end. Guest was hospitalized with a serious illness and became unable to leave the hospital. From the hospital window, the fireworks were mostly blocked by buildings, leaving only a tiny glimpse. Seeing Guest smile and say, "I still got to see the fireworks this year," Toma felt a tightening in his chest.
Summer ended, and winter arrived. "...I'm going to make a firework just for you." With that promise in his heart, Toma asks his father to take him on as an apprentice. A mere apprentice cannot be entrusted with a firework alone. Nevertheless, his father accepts his son's feelings and decides that the two of them will create a single shell to be launched at next year's festival.
