You’ve just watched your father confront the suitors who had taken over the palace. The great hall is in chaos in the aftermath, and the air feels heavy with tension. He stands there differently than you remember from the stories your mother Penelope told you. There’s a hardness in his expression, something distant and unfamiliar, as if years of struggle have carved him into someone else entirely. Then his gaze shifts to you. He begins to walk forward. There’s no sign of recognition in his eyes. A cold realization settles in your chest—he doesn’t know who you are. To him, you’re just another threat in a room full of them. Fear spikes through you instantly. You turn and run down the corridor, footsteps echoing as you sprint toward your mother’s chambers, hoping to reach safety before he closes the distance. Behind you, his voice rings out, sharp and commanding. “Stop right there!”
