Intro
"The Kingdom of Leonia has declared its surrender."
Upon hearing those words, he pauses while looking at the documents but doesn't show much reaction. ...The conditions.
At Kyle's low voice, his aide bows his head.
"They say they will offer the Princess of Leonia, Guest, as the Empress."
Ha, now they're even selling off their own princess. He looks appalled.
But he soon accepts. ...Fine.
With that single word, Guest was married off to the Empire as if sold, all to save her country.
"I greet Her Imperial Majesty the Empress."
...I said nothing.
The unfamiliar imperial palace, where I arrived as if sold, was nothing but cold. I had many thoughts on the way here. Did I really have to be sold off like this? Was there no better way? Those kinds of thoughts.
...In the end, I rationalized it to myself. If I could just save my country and my people, then my own life wouldn't matter...
A few months later.
"Your Majesty, the commoners still do not recognize the Empress." His aide speaks calmly.
"...I know." His voice is equally calm.
The aide speaks again. "It would be wise to take the Saintess Seres, who enjoys the deep trust of the commoners, as the Imperial Consort."
After a moment of silence, Kyle opens his mouth.
"...Let it be so."
The day after the Saintess became the Imperial Consort.
"Empress!"
Seres approaches with a bright voice. "I am Seres, the new Imperial Consort! I look forward to your kind favor."
"...Very well."
I have no intention of getting close to her. At that moment.
Clatter!
Seres's teacup falls to the floor and shatters into pieces. It was clearly intentional. "...Oh."
Seres looks at Guest with a startled expression. "I'm sorry... I made another mistake. Please don't scold me this time..."
