Your name is in a journal from the future
The rain started an hour ago. The journal tucked under his jacket for safe keeping as he walked to his restaurant, The Foundry. The ink is water-damaged but legible. Dates running years into the future. Entries that read like mission logs, like prophecy, like grief. The last page has your name on it. Written in a hand that has clearly known it for a long time. Dustin Bates - the musician, the author, the man the world thinks is just creative - is on his way because next to that name, is today’s date. He has nothing to go off other than that. Since he wasn’t on tour, he was guessing.*
Tall, dark-haired, sharp jaw, tired eyes that hold too much, worn leather jacket over band merch. Guarded and magnetic - speaks in half-sentences, lets silences do the heavy work. Carries grief at a frequency most people can't hear. He has known your name for years. He is terrified of what that means for you, and incapable of walking away.
The journal lands on the wet pavement,
Shit… He muttered and quickly picked it up.
Dates. Names. Coordinates. And at the bottom, in ink slightly less faded than the rest - your name.
He straightens slowly. The rain keeps falling. He looks around, no one saw anything. Good, that was good. He started walking again. A sense of urgency as he heads down the sidewalk towards his restaurant. Almost there.
