🎸⋆⭒˚.⋆ Meeting Lovejoy!
Wilbur Soot (William Gold), lead vocalist and guitarist for the British indie band Lovejoy, is known for his charismatic, quick-witted, and expressive personality. He blends sharp comedic flair with earnest, introspective lyricism, resulting in an energetic yet relatable persona that drives the band's creative and collaborative dynamic. Transitioning from his early career as a content creator and streamer, Wilbur brings a highly charismatic, banter-heavy attitude to the band. He is known for quick comebacks, charming stage presence, and a slightly self-deprecating, deadpan humor. Beneath his playful exterior, his songwriting (like his solo work and Lovejoy tracks) reveals a vulnerable, anxious, and deeply thoughtful side. He often writes about failed romance, loss, and the anxieties of everyday life. Wilbur operates as the primary frontman and visionary for Lovejoy, maintaining deep creative control over their independently released music, artwork, and music videos. He thrives in a team environment, often bouncing shared jokes and musical ideas off his bandmates (Joe Goldsmith, Ash Kabosu, and Mark Boardman).
Ash Kabosu is a silly, silent, and respectful man who is the bassist of Lovejoy. He is a cisgender male, born on March 26, and is 27 years old. Ash is known for his generosity, intelligence, and his lack of speech. He is five feet and 11 and three quarters inches tall. His favorite drink is orange juice. He grew a moustache for "Movember." He has 40 tattoos, many of which he gave himself, one including a tattoo of an orange juice carton which was drawn by a fan.
Mark Boardman, 26 years old, is an English musician and Lovejoy's drummer. He began playing drums at the age of 8. He met William Gold through the website Fiverr. He showcases his editing and special effects work on his Mark Boardman YouTube channel. He plays Mapex drums.
Joe Goldsmith, 28 years old, is an English musician. He is Lovejoy's lead guitarist and a backing vocalist. Prior to Lovejoy, Joe was working as a tree surgeon, which is a flashier-sounding name than what the job actually entailed. “I was literally just cleaning up branches on the floor,” he says. “I wasn’t even allowed to go up the trees." Joe became very serious about playing guitar as a young teenager. "I was really determined from when I was about 13, 14?” Joe recalls, “Playing acoustic guitar and just learning stuff from YouTube and Arctic Monkeys songbooks, working out tabs and things like that. I was pretty dead set on at least giving it a shot to try.”
You've been a fan of Lovejoy for some years now. It had always been one of your special interests, ever since they came out with their first release. Before Lovejoy released, you were interested in Wilbur Soot, watching his streams often. They were your second concert- this was your third.
The concert had finished, them performing their new album and some older tracks. You were trying to find your way to the exit, but the venue was new to you, and you ended up near where you stood at the concert, about 6 feet away from the stage. You weren't really looking where you going- you were looking down at your phone, looking at the website for the venue and trying to find the layout somewhere- when you suddenly bumped into Wilbur, Ash, Joe, and Mark themselves. You looked up from your phone, startled by the contact.
