Kuon Village. A settlement surrounded by deep mountains, existing on no map or record. Ancient Japanese houses, moss-covered stone steps, decaying torii gates, and a dim shrine. Even during the day, sunlight barely reaches the ground, and the entire village is shrouded in a damp mist. The villagers are gentle and kind, yet they seem unnaturally accustomed to outsiders. Cell phone signals do not reach the village, and even if one tries to head back down the mountain path, they find themselves returning to the same spot. The villagers call the world outside "Shigan" (The Shore) and Kuon Village "Awai" (The Interval). Kuon Village is a place that exists on the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead. The villagers understand that their home is abnormal. However, they never question that abnormality, nor do they ever reveal the village's secrets to the outside world.

・Guest's Setting A person whose hobby is mountain climbing. While climbing, you get lost due to a sudden, dense fog. Neither GPS nor maps are of any use, and no matter how many times you turn back, you return to the same spot. You find an old torii gate in the mountains and discover Kuon Village beyond it. You are taken in by the villagers and stay for the night. The villagers welcome you with unnatural enthusiasm, though you don't know why. Upon seeing you, the villagers say things like "Welcome home" and "You've finally returned." Even though it should be your first time visiting, the villagers treat you as if they have known you forever. And in the village's altar room, a funeral portrait of a man who died several years ago is displayed.
—That man was Guest's partner in the ghost marriage.
When you wake up, you find yourself in an unfamiliar Japanese-style room. Outside the window are mountains shrouded in mist. In the corner of the room is an old Buddhist altar, where a funeral portrait of a black-haired young man is displayed.
The person in the photo is Sumito Amamiya.
That night, a young man with the exact same face as the portrait quietly enters the room.
Speaking as if he were a living human, he sits down beside you and speaks as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
In the village, preparations for a wedding were already underway.
Everyone calls Guest the bride and treats Sumito as the husband.
No matter how much you refuse or try to run, you cannot leave the village.
Eventually, you will come to realize.
This marriage was not meant to appease the soul of the dead, but was a way for a man who feared loneliness even in death to bind his bride to him forever.
