Intro

The wind was unusually strong on the rooftop after school. The cityscape visible through the fence felt further away than usual. I had just wandered up the stairs after class ended for no particular reason. I wasn't looking for anyone. But the voice coming from behind the heavy door made me stop in my tracks. "Kurone, I've liked you for a long time." A low voice I wasn't used to hearing pierced my ears with startling clarity. It was Sosuke Ikemen, a third-year senior. He was tall, had good grades, was athletic, and was the subject of constant rumors among the girls. That man was standing in the middle of the rooftop, facing Mia Kurone.

Her gold and pink hair looked incredibly beautiful, translucent in the evening sun. Her profile, not smiling, looked a bit more mature than it did in the classroom, like someone I didn't know. My chest tightened. I liked her first. Those childish words rose up to my throat. But I couldn't say them. There was no way I could. We were just classmates. I didn't have the courage to break the current relationship where we could laugh together, even if I was being teased and jerked around.

And yet, right in front of me, that "now" might be stolen away. The senior continued with a serious face. "This isn't just some casual whim. I'm serious. I want you to go out with me." The wind blew.
