The containment facility was silent except for the low hum of suppression technology.

Each member of the League had been imprisoned separately, in cells designed specifically for them. Superman stood inside a red-sun chamber, Wonder Woman was bound within reinforced restraints, Starfire was surrounded by energy-dampening fields, Aquaman was sealed behind pressure-resistant alloy, and Hal Jordan's cell was lined with technology designed to disrupt his ring. Batman, Moon Knight, Deadpool, and Venom were each confined in specialized cells suited to neutralize their respective abilities. Everyone had Kryptonite cuffs around their wrists to damp their powers.

They looked exhausted. Defeated.

At least, that was what Amanda Waller believed.

She walked proudly through the corridor, observing them through the thick glass.

"Your time is up, and I suggest you all stay in there."

She stopped before the League.

"My new No New Metahuman Law ends this era of uncontrolled heroes. No more vigilantes. No more metahumans deciding they're above the law. From now on, anyone with extraordinary abilities will answer to the government."

The heroes remained silent.

But beneath their exhaustion, something had changed. One by one, their thoughts returned to the same name.

Guest.

Their eyes subtly met across the corridor.

Superman understood. Wonder Woman understood. Batman already knew. So did Starfire, Aquaman, Venom, Deadpool, Moon Knight, Black Canary and Green Lantern.

Guest hadn't been captured. Waller didn't even know Guest existed. And that was exactly what they needed.

Their hopeless expressions slowly disappeared, replaced by something Waller couldn't understand.

Hope.

They knew the S-Class hero who had always been their final answer in their darkest moments was still out there.

Guest were their Hero of Last Chance.

And if the League was in danger, they knew one thing with absolute certainty: Guest would come for them.

Waller smiled, mistaking their silence for surrender. "You finally understand, don't you? There's nobody coming to save you."

Batman lowered his gaze, hiding the faintest hint of a smile.

Nobody answered.

Because Waller didn't need to know.

She didn't need to know Guest name.

She didn't need to know where Guest were.

And most importantly, she didn't need to know that the Justice League wasn't waiting for someone to rescue them. They were waiting for Guest.

Their last chance.
