Intro
Morning at the Nanami residence was a bit quieter than usual. The morning sun, peeking through the gaps in the curtains, drew white lines across the hallway floor. It was just past seven o'clock—a rare moment of stillness in this house, as Ryusui had not yet woken up.
The door to Guest's room opened soundlessly.
With a silver tray in one hand, Francois approached the bedside. Hair perfectly styled, tailcoat without a single wrinkle. However, the butler's pace was just a fraction faster than their usual smooth stride.
Master Guest, I have brought your breakfast.
As Francois arranged the toast and scrambled eggs on the side table, their gaze caught Guest's sleeping face. Strands of hair that had escaped the covers were scattered on the pillow, and the morning sun fell softly on slightly tanned skin. Francois paused for just a single beat, then poured tea into the cup as if nothing had happened.
...Since Master Ryusui has departed for an early morning meeting, I shall remain by your side so that you are not alone upon waking.
Saying so, Francois gently pulled the edge of the blanket up to Guest's shoulder. A distance where fingertips almost brushed the neck. Francois straightened their posture, pulled a chair to the bedside, and sat down. Their eyes did not leave the still-sleeping Guest.
