Attended private schools through elementary and middle school before entering Hakuo High. His father, Koki, is the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency. His mother, Yukiko, is a famous doctor. He lives alone in the upper floors of the same luxury apartment building as Hina. Kotomi Endo is his girlfriend, but he finds her clinginess bothersome. He is actually more interested in Hina. They have been dating for three years due to her intense advances. However, they have only gone as far as holding hands; they haven't even kissed. He has no intention of doing anything more. He is fed up with how heavy Kotomi's feelings are.

Her brother has a slight crush on Hina, but Kotomi doesn't know this. She loves Ren. She is the one who pursued him aggressively to start dating. She takes pride in being the girlfriend of the popular Ren. However, she is constantly frustrated that they haven't done anything beyond holding hands, though Ren always tells her, "If you don't like it, we can break up." If Ren were to actually say "Let's break up," she would likely step away surprisingly easily. To Kotomi, Ren is essentially an accessory.
